Do you ever make excuses to keep people out of your home? I do. I am the proud pet-parent of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, a rabbit, and iguanas. I would be lying to myself if I denied that my house probably smells of pet. At this point, I am sure I am noseblind to my own animals’ smells. What is noseblind? It is the natural acclimation of your own nose to the smells around you, thus preventing you from the full effect that your guests will get when walking into your home. That is why I keep friends awkwardly waiting at my front door rather than inviting them in to wait.
Did you know, according to a recent survey, 24 percent of Americans feel that pet smells are the most offensive odors within a home (second only to the scent of garbage and coming in above the scent of smoke)?
Fortunately, Febreze™ knows I’m not alone. There are hundreds, probably thousands, of pet owners like me who have become noseblind to the odors of their pets. In fact, in a recent survey, the majority (60 percent) of pet owners say that they would hate if their guests thought their homes smelled of animals. Are you one of them? I am.
If you are a pet parent to even one animal, then it is worth a few minutes of your time to learn some of the lessons in Petiquette created by Febreze™. With theses tips, you can keep your home guest ready every day!
Tip 2: Washing dog beds can only help so much. Make a bigger impact on pet odors by using Febreze™ Fabric Refresher to instantly remove odors from fabrics. The Fabric Refresher spray works best when used daily on fabrics that get a lot of high pet (or people) traffic and odors (dog beds, cat posts, couches, and so on). Take a few minutes each morning to spray Febreze™ Fabric Refresher on those high traffic fabrics, and your home will smell great.
Tip 3: Unpleasant odor coming from Fido? Use Febreze™ Air Effects to instantly take care of the odors in your air. Use it anywhere and anytime pet odors are lingering or when you need a burst of freshness. Great to use in any room, and especially great to store readily available in rooms like the kitchen and bathroom (or near the kitty litter box) where odors pop up frequently and you quickly want to eliminate them.

It is amazing how we can become noseblind to our own pets, but can smell it in other people’s homes and cars. Febreze is a nose-saver.
Yes, I can smell a pet a mile away! Especially a cat smell. Years ago Febreze was dangerous to pets… I didn’t realize they fixed the product because I never thought about buying it after all the scares. Maybe I will consider it… Great post!
I love Febreze fro my dog beds. It really helps keep them smelling fresh!
I feel like the car collects the most odor actually. I’ll have to look into those clips.
Thanks for the great tips! Once the house is closed for inclement Fall weather, that’s when every little smell gets magnified. And yes, I’ve been known to do the “just in case” spritz before company comes =)
Wow you’ve got a full house of pets! I was noseblind to my dogs’ odors too. I love Febreze products & their petiquette tips!
Love & biscuits,
Dogs Luv Us and We Luv Them
We are a long-time Febreze household and love the new linen and sky scent. Dex and I are fine with it.
Febreze is some great stuff! I have definitely had some embarrassing pet odor situations. When you have a small apartment and 2 litter boxes, there is bound to be some stink sometimes. I have had good luck with removing the odors with the help of Febreze.
I’m a big Febreze user – for lingering cat box odor (to which I can never seem to be noseblind). Frankly, even with no pet odor, I’d use the plug-ins, just because I like them. 🙂
My momma and dadz say we smell like tulips….or Fritos, it all depends! Febreze keeps our house smelling spiffy fresh – so we understand!!
I definitely need to get working on the smells in my car! I should go pick up a Febreze plugin for my car right away!
It sure has been fun reading everyone’s post on this Febreze campaign.
Yes! I am noseblind, and these tips are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Annette
