With summer right around the corner, it’s a great time to start thinking about healthy, DIY frozen dog treats! This recipe is both easy for you and nutritious for your dog!
Let’s face it, a lot of DIY recipes on the internet are super complicated or take a lot of time. Now, I’m not saying I’m never going to create one of those on this website (heck, my DIY Dog Food post is pretty involved), but this is not one of those recipes. These frozen dog treats should take you minimal prep time…honestly, the longest wait will be the freezing process!
The Ingredients I Used and Why:
Bananas
Bananas are a great low-calorie fruit. They’re high in potassium, vitamins, biotin, fiber, and copper. They are also low in cholesterol and sodium. However, they are high in sugar content, so should be limited when used as treats (or treat ingredients).
Strawberries
Strawberries contain a high amount of fiber and Vitamin C. They also contain an enzyme known to help whiten teeth. However, like bananas, they contain sugar, so should be limited when used as treats (or as ingredients in treats).
Blueberries
Blueberries are full of antioxidants which prevent cell damage. They’re also a great source of fiber and phytochemicals. They’re a great addition to your dog’s diet (and would be great for you too)!
Greek Yogurt
Greek Yogurt contains more concentrated levels of probiotics which are super beneficial bacteria for your dog’s gut. The probiotics in Greek Yogurt also fight yeast, which is helpful for dogs who have recurring skin or ear infections.

Amounts of Ingredients:
- 1 Banana
- 1 cup Strawberries
- 1 cup Blueberries
- 1/4 cup Greek Yogurt
Directions for Frozen Dog Treats:
Step 1:
Add blueberries to food processor/blender and blend.
Step 2:
Pour blueberries into liquid molds (up to 1/3 of the mold), then place in freezer for one hour or until frozen.
Step 3:
Rinse food processor, then add banana and yogurt to food processor and blend.
Step 4:
Pour banana and yogurt blend into the molds (on top of the frozen blueberries) up to 2/3 of the mold, then place in freezer for one hour or until frozen.
Step 5:
Rinse food processor, then add strawberries to food processor and blend.
Step 6:
Pour blended strawberries into the molds (on top of the frozen banana mix) until mold is full, then place in freezer for one hour or until frozen.
Step 7:
Give your frozen treats to your dog and watch them enjoy!
NOTES FOR FROZEN DOG TREATS:
- A deeper mold will be better for this treat.
- Put your silicone molds on a cookie sheet for easy transfer to and from the freezer.
- Make sure you have a location in the freezer cleaned out and that the cookie sheet will fit in that area.
- Use a relatively light weight, easy to handle pourable cup for pouring the liquid into the molds, because you are aiming for such a small area.
- These frozen dog treats melt pretty fast, so serve quickly!
