Hello!
We are looking forward to seeing you at our super awesome start of the New Year seminar on Monday, January 20th and Tuesday, January 21st at Quicksilver Canine! Below is some more information and important details. If you have a moment, feel free to email or Facebook message Kama or Dudley about the specific needs for your dog! It will help us plan 🙂
P.S. If you want to double-check that your name is on the registration list, we have that at the very bottom of this page! If you see a mistake or need to change/give-up your spot, please let us know ASAP!
Location:
The seminar begins at 9am and ends at approximately 5pm each day. Please see below for a list of local hotels.
Quicksilver Address: 5600 Clarence Rd Julian, North Carolina 27283
More Info:
One of our goals is to make this a great experience for the dogs (and you too, of course!) so here are some things to know:
What to bring:
For the dogs, we suggest bringing the following:
- 4 or 6 foot leash…if you need a long-line for your young dog, that is fine, but please no handles (paracord type lines are best when working around equipment)
- Regular flat collar or body harness (no corrective collars or harnesses please)
- Lots of small non-crumbly treats
- Lots of fun tug toys
- Kong toy or chew bones for crate relaxation when it’s not their turn
- Water bowl (there is water available on site)
- Crate & crate cover for downtime between turns
Quicksilver has chairs in it for you to use or you can bring your own chair if you prefer. Please bring a towel to wipe your dog’s feet as you enter so we don’t track in mud and so the pads are not wet on the turf (that is how pads get ripped and also makes turf more slippery for running).
UPDATE REGARDING FOOD (how did I forget that?!): Quicksilver is located in a rural area so we recommend you pack some snacks, or lunch, for our one hour lunch break each day as we’re not positive how many options to purchase a lunch may be nearby.
Crating:
There is plenty of crating space to keep the dogs comfortable and happy! The building has general use wire crates available, but please bring your own crate as we are not sure how many crates they will have available for our use. There are a couple of separate rooms where we can crate the dogs so they can relax too! If the weather is nice, crating out of the car is also a possibility.
** If your dog might bark incessantly or lunge at other dogs in the crate, please crate them in the separate areas or cover the crate or leave them in the car. That way your dog can relax, the other dogs can relax, and we can all hear the instructors.
The Facility:
Quicksilver is air conditioned and heated (yay!) so feel free to dress in layers. Also, there might be some mud outside, so please bring a pair of dry shoes to change into when coming out onto the turf.
Please potty your pup early and often so we don’t have any potty accidents on the turf .

P.S. There is a $10 fine for potty accidents on the turf!
Please respect the property and facility and potty your dogs in the proper areas and pick up any poop 🙂
Cell phone access at the facility is not great – if you need to get great cell signal, we recommend that you keep your phone near the doors at the entrance.
Video Policy:
You may bring a video camera to video your work with your pup – I am sure you will be able to partner up and have someone video you and your dog then you can video them when it is their turn. Please do not video other dogs or handlers without their permission. The videos are for personal use and may not be published online except for short clips and with instruction edited out.
