If you travel with multiple dogs, sometimes the Motel 6 chain is going to be your closest hotel with a policy allowing all your pets. I have stayed at many Motel 6’s for agility weekends, and they vary greatly. Some are wonderful, some are horrible.
The Motel 6 in Watsonville, California (125 Silver Leaf Drive, Watsonville, CA) is only about 15 minutes away from the Bay Team USDAA Western Regional. As far as Motel 6’s go, it is middle-of-the-road.
The beds are hard, the walls are thin, and the rooms smell musty. BUT, the area was nicer than many Motel 6 locations, there was a grassy area for potty walks with the dogs, and the rooms were obviously recently renovated. Other than that, the one thing that should be noted is the space available in the rooms (at least the rooms with two beds)…there is barely any room to walk. The pictures on their website are very misleading, as the room is actually tiny. Since on a typical agility weekend, more time is spent at the trial than in the room, this is not a horrible situation, but it is important for those of us traveling with multiple dogs and people.

This is what the room looks like with a person and two dogs in the picture….much smaller than you would expect.
Overall, this is a decent Motel 6 for a trial weekend. However, there are many others in the area, so we will be trying a different location next year.
